Derived from vetiver oil (Indian) obtained from the roots of Chrysopogon zizanioides, primarily cultivated in India, vetiveryl acetate is produced through esterification of vetiverol fractions. This process softens the harsher, smoky aspects of raw vetiver oil, resulting in a smoother and more refined woody profile. Presented as a clear to pale yellow liquid, it exhibits a clean, slightly sweet, and elegant woody aroma with improved stability and reduced earthiness. Its molecular composition is dominated by esterified sesquiterpenes, enhancing its longevity and diffusion control. In perfumery, vetiveryl acetate functions as a refined woody base note and fixative, widely used to add smoothness, extend drydown, and bring polish to woody, amber, and masculine compositions.
